今朝、ものすごいことを発見した。
部屋の窓側に、
ものすごく大きな通風口がある。
僕はこれはずっと閉められないものだと思っており、
ここから冷気が入ってきて部屋が暖まらないので、
とても忌々しく思っていたのだ。
今朝、あまりにも寒いので、
もう一度この通風口をいじくっていると、
なんと、レバーを時計まわりに回すだけで閉まったのだ！
この喜びはエジソンが電球を発明した時の喜びに勝るとも劣らない。
今まで、寒くて(必要もなく）辛抱していたのが馬鹿みたいだ。
とはいえ、とても感謝だ。
でも、春が近づいているぞ、
寒いうちにこの有り難みを味わおう。
I made a great discovery this morning.
There is a ventilation hole next to the window in my living room.
This hole, which is about 20cm in diameter,
allows cold air to flow into my room.
I was really cursing this hole,
as it prevents my room from keeping the warmth.
This morning was so cold,
that I was gazing at this hole,
and discovered that by simply turning a lever clockwise it shuts!
My surprise must have been equivalent to Thomas Edison first inventing the lightbulb!
Oh how I regret the time I spent in my room unnecessarily trembling with cold this winter.
But I should be thankful about this.
Now my room is mighty warm.
But hey, spring is approaching,
I shall enjoy the coziness while it is cold out there.
