B&BでのFull English breakfast はなかなか食べ応えがあった。
朝はぱらぱらと雨が降っていた。大雨でないだけまだいい。
今日は北ヨークシャーをドライブしまわることにした（とっても父の運転だが）。
僕も免許はもっているので、法的には運転できるのだが、
イギリスのレンタカー会社は、免許取得後１年未満だと、借りた車を運転できない決まりがあるので、今回は助手席どまりだった。
Leyburnの街はなんてことなかった。
が、ここからReethまでのドライブはとても景色がよかった。
途中何回か車を停め、写真をとった。
I enjoyed eating the full English breakfast.
It was drizzling in the morning.
We drove around North Yorkshire today.
I wanted to drive too, it's a shame that the rent-a-car companies in the UK doesn't allow people who held a license for less than a year.
We visited Leyburn and Reeth in the morning.
Leyburn was so so, but Reeth was really pretty.
The road we took from Leyburn to Reeth had a spectacular view and we stopped the car here and there and took photos.
Reethはサムの父親がお薦めの街で、とても静かできれいな街だった。
やはり交通量が少ないから、昔のままで残っているのだろう。
Yeah, Sam's father was right, Reeth is a beautiful town.
Reethから南へ２０分、Bolton Castleを訪れた。
あまり改修工事がなされていないので、中はほとんど拭きぬけで、風が通って寒かった。
Then we visited the Bolton Castle, twenty minutes from Reeth to the south.
The inside of the castle was really cold, as most of the rooms had no ceiling.
城の上に登れるようになっており、ここからヨークシャーの田舎景色を眺めた。
すっかり冷えたので、城の中のティールームで、しばし休憩した。
We climbed up to the watch tower and overlooked the beautiful Yorkshire dales scenery.
We rested for a bit in a tea room in the castle.
Reethから西北へ再び２０分ぐらいのところのMukerという村を訪れた。
羊毛屋さんと、他に２件ぐらいのお土産やぐらいしかない本当に小さな村だ。
母が羊毛のマフラーを買っていた。
From Reeth, we visited Muker, a small town twenty minutes from Reeth.
My mother bought a woolen scarf.
A very small town it was.
とにかく羊だらけの国だ。
There's so many sheep in this country.
サムの父親の言ったとおり、Richmondはまあまあだった。
やはりヨークシャー・デールズの見所は、人があまりいない、小さな村を散策することだな。
Richmond was so so (Sam's dad was right again).
I think the attractions of Yorkshire are the small pretty towns.
夜のニュースは洪水のことばっかり。
すごいことになっているらしかった。
Looking at the evening news, seems like the flood has worsened.
