一日中雨が降っていた。
夏はこの国を見捨てたと、最近思い始めている。
こんなに雨が降っていては、部屋で本を読む以外何ができようか？
トーマス・マンの「ヴェニスに死す」はとても複雑で難しい話だった。
ある著名なドイツ人作家が、休暇でヴェニスを訪れ、
そこである若い美少年に恋をしてしまう話。
これは、現代社会で議論を起こすようなテーマではないのか？
正直半分も分からなかった。
明日弟に電話して聞いてみよう。大学でこの本についてレポートを書いたらしいから。

Thomas Mann's 'Death in Venice' was a very complicated story.
It's about a German man called Aschenbach, a well reputed writer and artist, who visits Venice for his holiday.
In Venice, he falls in love with a beautiful young boy.
After reading the book , I thought, hmmm, isn't this a rather contentious theme?
I have to admit that I couldn't understand half ot it.
I shall call my little brother tomorrow; he said he wrote a paper on this book in uni.
